I’ve joined Team Life Cycle and will be pushing my body to the limits as we take on
the 2025 Murray to Moyne cycling relay to raise vital funds for Uniting’s Horsham
service.

headspace Horsham provides free support to young people aged 12-25 years going
through a tough time and struggling with their mental health.

Your donation will help provide vital mental health and wellbeing support, information
and services to young people and their families across the Wimmera region.

Murray to Moyne Newbie taking on the challenge to support a great cause

As a Murray to Moyne first-timer, I’ve joined Team Life Cycle in support of Headspace Horsham.

While I have heard a lot about the event over many years, I've not had the chance to be involved until now.

To be honest, while I'm really looking forward to it, I am also a little daunted by the task at hand.  Doing more than 240kms in a weekend will be far beyond what I've managed before.  However, I'm training hard and feeling good about it.

And here's the thing: the more donations we get, the more I'll be inspired to push it out.  Your donation will help provide vital mental health and wellbeing support, information and services to young people and their families across the Wimmera region.

Along with the 2 other members of my team, Ash & Nige, I'll be pushing the pedals hard in the hope that we can encourage you to donate whatever you can manage during these difficult times, for this very worthy cause.

I'll be updating the blog with details of training rides I'm doing, so feel free to check in on my progress.  Any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated.

My Updates

Final training ride done & dusted.

Wednesday 2nd Apr
This morning's short (35km) ride sees out my training for the event.  Lots of km's into the legs over the last 5 weeks, and now it's time to rest them up in preparation for the onslaught of demand over Saturday and Sunday.
I'm really pleased with what I've achieved in this short amount of time with my average road speed increasing significantly, as has the ability to climb hills at a reasonable rate.

Thanks so much to everyone that has donated to this great cause.  It is very much appreciated, not only by myself and my team, but also Headspace Horsham, and indirectly, those in need of the services Headspace provide.  Truly Awesome.

Lots more training.

Thursday 27th Mar
Last week of full training this week, with the target being 210kms for this week - the same as I've done for the last couple of weeks.  I've just updated the fitness activity tracker on the page to show the distance I've traveled on the bike since signing up for the M2M ride, including the spinathon that Chris, Max, Connor & I did at the Riverview Cafe in Warrandyte.
Next week will just be a single short ride enabling the legs to recover and be ready for the M2M that weekend.  Yes, it's that close.

Thanks again to all that have donated and supported me in getting this done.

Training updates

Tuesday 11th Mar
Hey All.
Another 175kms under the belt in the last few days.
Saturday - Ringwood - City return ride (70kms)
Good ride going in, but sweltering heat for the return.
Monday - Ringwood - City return ride (70kms)
Much quicker ride - got out earlier and was in the city by 9am. Beautiful morning but heating up again quickly during the return ride. Home by 11:30am, so pleased with the effort.
Tuesday - Short Ringwood - Balwyn return ride (35Kms) before work. Legs doing o.k. but still a little tired from yesterday's 70kms.

Another quick training ride this morning

Thursday 6th Mar
Short (35kms) training ride before work this morning.  Feeling good on the bike. Hopefully a couple of longer rides over the long weekend.

Thanks very much to those who have made a donation already.  It is very much appreciated.

Training rides update

Sunday 2nd Mar
Friday 28th
Quick 35km ride - Ringwood to Balwyn return.
Flat tyres are never welcome, and this was a repeat offender from my previous ride, so a full on bike maintenance night to check things were good to go again.
Saturday 1st March.
Longer ride - 72km's from Ringwood into Southbank and back, via Maroondah Hwy to Hawthorn and then the Capital City Trail along the Yarra into Southgate which is a magnificent path.  There is often a quick stop at ' The Baker and Me' in Balwyn for excellent coffee & fruit scones on this ride.
